kelly says hi
That little girl who is a proud owner of a black n97 mini goes by the name of Kelly W. She was born on this special date - The nineteen of December - and lives in a cozy house located in the sunny island of Singapore.
Like it or not, this is a place where she pens down her thoughts, feelings, and memories. Without say, she appreciates tags and hellos; do leave a note for her before you go. (: Best viewed using Mozilla Firefox. |

Friday, September 10, 2010 @ 11:56 amMashed Potatoes
I’ve the urge to blog right now. You know, in the midst packing my room, I saw a broacher on some event I went to this year. It really reminded me of something which disgusted me. That day, I was with this little 6 year old girl who had a 7-eleven mashed potato in a plastic bag. It was around 11:30am and she was getting hungry – no, more like restless as I didn’t allow her to eat the potato mash as we were in an exhibition. Then came along an adult who the little girl respects a lot. The most surprising thing she did was to give in to the child by saying that it’s okay for her to eat in a place which doesn’t even allow food to be consumed and that I, the big sister, will block the view of the child as she eats at a quiet corner. The adult walked away after smiling at her. Before the little girl could open the potato mash, I said no. No, you can’t eat, I insisted, even though I saw her eyes glistening with joy when the adult allowed her to eat. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to teach a kid the wrong things. Okay, I was like playing the bad guy over there. The thing I couldn’t stand was this: She, the child, comes from a family which has problems. Yes, she hardly has the chance to buy such a thing to eat. (Btw I bought it for her.) However, if you were to let in to the child as a figure of respect to her whims and wants easily, what values are you instilling in the child? Are you going to say that, rules are nothing, just do what you want without thinking of others, it’s okay to get into trouble or create trouble? I know that the adult is just bending the rules, but to the child who is “blur” and can’t differentiate right from wrong easily, she doesn’t know about that. She might just implant the idea of being self-centered is the right thing into her brain at a young age. Are we going to help her by letting in? I mean, some children can identify those who “treat them better” or gives in easily and make use of them. Like this, aren’t you going to spoil the child? Of course I allowed her to eat it later on. :X Okay, back to packing my room. :)
